Effective Classroom Environment Strategies: Working in Domain 2
This training is designed to assist educators in developing an effective classroom environment as indicated in Domain 2. Teachers will learn strategies and discuss how the learning environment effects student progress and achievements.

Bernice Henry, Ph.D. is a product of Philadelphia's public school system. She attended Alain Locke Elementary School and Sulzburger Junior High School. Dr. Henry
graduated from University City High School in 1975. She recieved a Bachelor of Science from Kutztown University in 1979, a Master of Education and Doctor of Philosophy from Temple University in 1983 and 1993. Dr. Henry has been an employee of the School District of Philadelphia since 1980 and is currently a Consulting Teacher at 5 PAR High Schools. She has been an adjunct professor at the following universities: Temple, Arcadia, LaSalle, West Chester, and Drexel.
Sheila Linton is a product of the School District of Philadelphia. She graduated from John Bartram High School in 1968. She went on to receive a Bachelor of Science Degree from Penn State University (1972) and a Master of Science Degree from Drexel University (1976). She holds PA state certifications in Elementary Education, Middle Years Social Studies, Library Science and Educational Administration. In 2002, Ms. Linton became one of the first teachers in the School District of Philadelphia to become a National Board Certified Teacher (NBCT). Ms. Linton has over 20 years of classroom teaching experience in the district and has held several leadership roles in the schools in which she has been assigned. Ms. Linton served as a New Teacher Coach for seven years and currently works as a Consulting Teacher with the district's PAR Program. In both capacities, her primary responsibility is to coach and mentor teachers who are new to the profession. In addition to her teaching career, Ms. Linton was employed as a Program Officer with The Pew Charitable Trusts for 10 years where she analyzed grant proposals and made recommendations for funding. She has also served on the boards of directors for several nonprofit organizations and she is a member of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc. Ms. Linton was named "Teacher of the Year" for the Audenried Cluster in 2000 and is listed in "Who's Who Among African-Americans."
